So here are my goals and I what I hope to accomplish by December 2008:
(I do want to preface this, however, with a little background. I have never followed through with a goal in my life. Sad I know. I want to change that. I want this year to be my year to chart success and accomplishment. I hope by sharing my experience(s) I will be able to do that.)
1. I want a track body - a lean, toned, muscular body. I have managed, with the help of my husband, to get into the best shape of my life. However, its only the "best shape of my life" because this is the leanest I have ever been. I was never this lean in high school. I averaged about 115 lbs in high school. I am about or I linger around 107 lbs to 109 lbs and this is with more muscle mass (remember, muscle weighs more than fat) and eight pounds less fat. I was trying on a bathing suit the other day and to my surprise I saw what I didn't think I would see, an unsightly image in the mirror, more particular, some inner and outer thighs that could use some trimming. Not a pretty sight. It is this sight that has motivated me to take my fitness goal to another level.
2. I want to be a better ultimate frisbee player. I have never heard of ultimate frisbee until I came to Santa Barbara. I never really took any interest in it until I was married for at least 2 years. Adam started dragging me out to play just recently and I have really come to enjoy the sport. I didn't think there was much skill involved in throwing a frisbee but apparently there is. I am able to throw a frisbee okay, sometimes are better or worse than others, it just depends on the day. Now I do acknowledge that I can use some practice, practice would definitely do me some good. I want to be able to play so that my teammates won't be apprehensive about throwing me the frisbee.
3. I want to read at least three novels by the end of the year. I was at a birthday party the other day and I was amongst some really intelligent people. I want to be able to bring reference to classic novels, I want to be able to come up with some witty remarks (intelligent people are remarkably witty), I want more to talk about, I want to be more interesting. (Not that I think I am boring, I just think study and experience can enhance my character.)
So these are my goals. Hopefully writing in this blog every so often will help me along the way. Of course, in between my progress, I will keep you updated on my family life as well. My two girls, they really make me laugh. Each of them are filled with their own little ball of distinct personalities - its interesting how genetics work. Then there's my husband. He's a joy and a wonder! He has so many great ideas in that mind of his, its fascinating - some soon to be shared with more than just friends and family...
